Every single notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, and any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, which means that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
Our VPS server
plans include three Linux distributions which you could select from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being totally free, the OSs are very stable and risk-free and the main reason to offer you the three of them is to make sure that you can run any application that you'd like, since different pieces of software have different requirements for the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a vast community of developers who have developed a large number of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System that you pick, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to manage your website hosting content. Of course, if you decide that you need a new OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for maximum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated server
solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also known as the most reliable and secure OSs. We offer three different ones as each one of them is supported by a separate community. The packages which you could add on your web server are different and this may matter in case you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you will choose. You can select any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if necessary, we can always install the server anew with an alternative one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the plan whenever you want, we can update the OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
